New bus route will serve 4S Ranch commuters
The route will serve 4S Ranch and Rancho Bernardo with limited service to Sorrento Valley and Golden Triangle.
The premium express service is a commuter service with limited stops by premium coach buses.
The new route will begin at the 4S Commons Town Center, then stop at the Rancho Bernardo transit station and travel directly to Mira Mesa via Interstate 15.
The bus will exit I-15 at Mira Mesa Boulevard and go to Sorrento Valley, providing service to employment centers there.
The end of the line will be the University Town Center transit center.
Developer fees from 4S Ranch helped fund this route and bring a long-term transit plan to the I-15 corridor, Schupp said.
The bus service is $5 per ride, $11 for a day pass (good for transfers to most other MTS services) or $90 per month (including unlimited rides on most MTS services).
Reduced rates are available to youth (18 and under) for $45 and seniors (over 60) for $22.50. About 1,500 riders currently take MTS’ five express routes every weekday.
MTS recently reviewed fare hikes, which will be reviewed at their next meeting, March 26.
Those changes need to be approved by San Diego Association of Governments.
