NCSFA celebrates juried show winners

The North County Society of Fine Arts held a reception at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts this past Saturday to honor the winners of its 2010 Open Juried Show.

The show, which features 61 entries, will be on display at the art center’s gallery — in the lobby of 15498 Espola Road — until Tuesday, March 30.

The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The exhibit was coordinated by Gordon Bashant and judged by Sally Clark, a watercolor artist from Savannah, Ga. In total, NCSFA awarded $1,000 in prizes to winners in each of the show’s four categories.

Helen Sherry, an artist and published poet, won the best of show award with her painting, “Journey,” an acrylic.

NCSFA is a nonprofit organization that, according to its mission, seeks to bring regional recognition to local artists and to give scholarships to local high school students planning to major in art in college.

For more information on membership, contact Lori Chase or president Katherine Reeder at P.O. Box 291, Poway, CA 92074 or visit www.ncsfa.org.
