SAN DIEGO (CNS) — The amount of fluoride in the city of San Diego’s water system will be increased beginning Tuesday, the Public Utilities Department announced today.

The higher fluoride levels are to be phased in over the next month, with the first additive going into the Miramar Water Treatment Plant, which serves the northern area of the city of San Diego, including Rancho Bernardo. Fluoride will go into the plant at Lake Murray, serving central San Diego, a week from today. The additive will go into the Otay Water Treatment Plant, which serves southern San Diego, in mid-February.

In China’s public parks groups of adults of all ages can be seen performing slow, graceful and ballet-like movements in unison.

Researchers have found that a consistent regime of tai chi promotes balance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and most importantly reduces the risk of falls in older adults.

Many younger adults turn to it for its meditative and stress-reducing aspects, according to instructor Cheri Hotalen of Poway.

REVIEW: Old Globe’s ‘Emma’ is a delight

EMMA

On the surface, there’s very little to like about Emma Woodhouse, the titular character of Jane Austen’s “Emma.” She’s a schemer and an snooty meddler, a self-centered and privileged classist who’s self-awareness is incredibly short-sighted.

Yet, readers have been rooting for the errant matchmaker for nearly 200 years, her endearing mix of assertiveness and obliviousness being the formula for many protagonists of modern romantic comedies.
