The Poway Fire Department will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at a new location — the department’s training tower, 12355 Crosthwaite Circle.

Tour the tower, watch demonstrations, spray a hose at a target, let kids learn about fire and burn prevention and purchase food at the hot dog booth.

A food, wine, beer, art and music festival benefiting Rancho Bernardo Historical Society will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 at Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo del Verano Norte, Rancho Bernardo.

Cost: Advance tickets ($15 per person or $25 for two) can be purchased online at www.rbtastings.com or at Belmont Village, Bernardo Winery Tasting Room, Café Merlot, Casa de las Campanas, Rancho Bernardo Historical Society Museum, Rancho Bernardo Senior Services, RE/MAX Associates, and Village Mail and More.

At the festival, tickets are $20 for one or $35 for two.

Each ticket includes a free logo wine glass, The event is only for those 21 and older.
