The state’s decision to have some convicted felons detained at jails instead of prisons will change the way criminals are dealt with, according to San Diego’s district attorney.

Tick warning issued for Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve

County vector control officials are advising local hikers to seek medical attention if they become ill after getting a tick bite.

Several ticks collected last week in Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve’s Lopez Canyon tested positive for tularemia, also known as rabbit fever. The collection was due to routine monitoring, officials announced Friday (Oct. 28).
