And as United Nations delegates unite to battle the effects of climate change in Durban, South Africa while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton initiates her historic visits to Myanmar and Burma, we are reminded that today’s students will soon stand in these leaders’ shoes – and be responsible for creating a better future for us all.

Rancho Bernardo resident beats odds on, off golf course

Brandon Gandy overcame the odds when he buried a 75-yard chip shot for eagle to propel his foursome to the National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Golf tournament title on Nov. 7.

But the 25-year-old resident of Rancho Bernardo has overcome far longer shots than that one to get to where he is today.

PowPAC, Poway’s Community Theater, is bringing a holiday classic to life with a new twist in their production of “Mr. Scrooge & Mr. Dickens,” opening Friday, Dec. 2 and running through Sunday, Dec. 18.
