Business briefs: Chamber receives accreditation
The United States Chamber of Commerce has awarded the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce with a 3-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.
The chamber is the first and only one in the region to be U.S. Chamber accredited and is one of only 13 in California.
“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community,” said Raymond P. Towle, the national organization’s executive director of political affairs and federation relations. “We applaud these organizations for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”
In order to receive accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs and technology. This extensive process can often take six to nine months to complete.
“The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce is proud to have been awarded this honor. The chamber remains committed to serving our member investors, our region, and our North County citizens,” said Angelo Damante, chairman of the board. “For us, accreditation validates the accomplishments we have made over the past two years. We look forward to continuing our commitment of building vibrant communities through stronger commerce.”
