4S Ranch singer launches second ‘American Idol’ try

4S Ranch resident Kristi Krause could be on her way to becoming the next American Idol.
On Sunday, Fox televised the contest’s San Diego auditions held last fall aboard the USS Midway. The episode was rebroadcast on Tuesday.
Among those who tried out was the 18-year-old Krause, who sang “Summertime.”
Krause was among a handful of those at the local audition to receive a “golden ticket,” which means she is advancing to season 11’s Hollywood auditions that will be shown in an upcoming episode. Whether Krause’s Hollywood audition will be broadcast is not yet known.
Episodes are shown locally at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays on Fox KSWB 5.
Last year, Krause was among 325 contestants who received a “golden ticket” to the Hollywood auditions after trying out for the show in San Francisco. She was eliminated in the second round of auditions.
“It was much easier the second time,” Krause said. “It was so cool to be on the USS Midway, but when you actually get in front of the judges, your heart starts pounding and you just pray that you don’t blow it.”
The daughter of 4S Ranch residents Bob and Deanna Krause graduated from Rancho Bernardo High in June and is continuing her education at Palomar College.
