Prep girls soccer: Del Norte High clinches at least share of first Valley League title

The Del Norte High girls soccer team clinched at least a share of its first Valley League title Wednesday in only its second year with a varsity team.

The Nighthawks kept their league shutout streak going, blanking host Valley Center 4-0 to improve to a perfect 7-0 in league play with just three games to go. Del Norte has outscored its league foes 36-0 and has now won eight straight.

The Nighthawks (18-3, 7-0-0) would have to lose their last three games and Canyon Crest Academy would have to win out just to earn a split. The scenario is highly unlikely given Del Norte has rolled to victories over each of its final three opponents (Canyon Crest Academy, San Dieguito Academy and Mission Vista).

Hope Donovan scored two goals and Kyra Carusa registered three assists in the win over Valley Cetner. Kelsey Miller also scored a goal, while Katie Boyle added an assist.
