Prep baseball: Moreno brothers lead Poway High past Eastlake in extra innings

The Moreno brothers teamed up to ensure the Poway High baseball team a spot in the double-elimination field of the CIF San Diego Section Division I playoffs.

Ryan Moreno singled and stole second base with two outs in the eighth inning. Alec Moreno then drove him in and the No. 9 Titans survived with a 10-9 extra-inning victory over No. 8 Eastlake Tuesday afternoon.

Poway advances to play at No. 1 Vista Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Evan Hindemith tossed 1 2/3 innings of relief and struck out three to get the win for Poway.

DIVISION II

Top-seeded Rancho Bernardo will host No. 9 San Marcos Wednesday in the first round of the CIF SDS Division II playoffs. San Marcos advanced with a 4-2 victory over No. 8 Bonita Vista Tuesday in the play-in round.

    Poway will actually play No. 1 Vista today, not Eastlake as stated in the article.
