Realtor couple say referrals are key to continued success
For Doug and Elaine Wealch of Prudential California Realty in Rancho Bernardo, the key to their success is referrals from friends, family and previous clients.
“It drives our business,” Doug said, “We pride ourselves in giving personal attention before, during and after the sale. We want satisfied clients that will refer us again and again.”
They never forget that a home is an emotional and a financial investment that has become more challenging in the current market.
“We can’t make the decisions for our clients, but we can provide our knowledge and experience so that they can make intelligent decisions,” said Elaine.
The Wealches enjoy looking out for people’s best interest whether they are the buyer or the seller.
“Communication is the key to any transaction,” said Elaine. “Being in touch with the client regularly is vital whether you have good news or bad news for them. We strive to be available to our clients to answer their questions, calm their fears and being real about expectations.”
“We make sure don’t promise what we can’t deliver,” said Doug. “Following up on every detail. Being in touch with the other agent, lender, inspectors, repairmen and escrow is equally important to making sure that our client is getting everything done the right way and in a timely manner.”
For sellers they are picky about presenting the features of their home in the very best light.
“We use only professional photos,” said Elaine. “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.”
Elaine enjoys helping the homeowner stage their home for sale and preparing marketing pieces that will showcase the home’s best features.
Doug and Elaine take advantage of seminars and training to become more knowledgeable about this ever changing market. Most recently they have taken classes in handling short sales and relocation.
They have consistently been named to the Prudential President’s Circle which is the top 3 percent of Realtors. Last year they were ranked in the top 100 Prudential agents for San Diego County and were awarded “a Five Star Best in Overall Satisfaction,” voted by their clients.
They find working with first-time home buyers is especially fun because they not only advise, negotiate and facilitate the home buying process but they are also teaching and passing on pointers gained from years of experience. One of their “first time” home buyers was their oldest son, Chris, who purchased a home this year in San Marcos. They have two other sons and look forward to the time when they will be first-time buyers.
Over the years, Doug and Elaine have specialized in The Palisades and Rancho Arbolitos area of Poway, where they live. They have sold over 40 homes in the area. Each year they sponsor a spring community garage sale with over 100 families participating. Every month for the past 12 years they have hand delivered the monthly sales statistics to over 900 homes in Arbolitos.
“It would be easier to put the postcards in the mail but we enjoy meeting our neighbors and making that personal connection,” said Doug.
Doug and Elaine are active in the Poway Real Estate Professionals. Doug served as a director on the board for two years and Elaine is serving her fourth year as secretary, as well as corporate administrator.
They are also active in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and in the Poway Kiwanis Club.
