WSOP: Poway High grad takes sixth in $1M buy-in tourney

Poway High grad and current poker pro Brian Rast earned $1.6 million for his sixth-place finish Tuesday in the $1 million buy-in event at the 2012 World Series of Poker.

The 2000 Poway High valedictorian exited the tournament in tough fashion. He flopped an ace-high flush and set the trap for his opponent in the hand, Sam Trickett. But Trickett was holding two 3’s in his hand and ended up hitting four-of-a-kind on the river to knockout Rast.

Rast’s good friend Antonio Esfandiari ended up taking home the first-place prize of $18.3 million dollars, the largest payout in the history of poker.
