The UCLA-bound, soon-to-be senior is part of a group of 40 players selected from around the nation, many considered the top high school baseball players in the country. The game, which puts the West versus the East will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network. The entire East and West squads will be announced during a selection show Thursday at 4 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.
“It is going to be a lot of fun and the competition is going to be really good,” said Katoh, who didn’t find out he was selected to the West roster until 11 p.m. Monday. “It is also great that the game is at Petco Park. I have never played there before so I am really looking forward to that.”
Katoh, a three-year varsity player for the Broncos, hit .355 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs last year. He has been on the road playing baseball most of the summer. Earlier this month he was in Minneapolis for a National Showcase and later this month he will be in Long Beach for the Area Code Games.
“It has been busy,” he said. “I have only been home for two days this summer.”
Former players in the game include this year’s first overall pick in the MLB Draft Carlos Correa and current MLB stars Bryce Harper and Justin Upton.

High school baseball leagues like this one and in other prep school areas (such as the Kushner Academy team from NJ that included Matt Stadtmauer) really does prepare those who may be interested in college or personal ball. Thanks for posting.
