Little League All-Stars 10/11: Carmel Mountain Ranch advances to Section 6 title game

The Carmel Mountain Ranch Little League 10/11-year-old all-stars jumped out to an early lead on Scripps Ranch American and rolled to a 9-3 victory on Sunday at Murphy Canyon in the Section 6 semifinals.

Jon Sotto has powered the Carmel Mountain Ranch Little League 10/11 all-star team into the Section 6 championship game.

Seven runs in the first three innings allowed CMR to put the game away early and advance to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. championship game at Murphy Canyon Little League’s Damato Field.

A three-run home run by David Orenstein in the first inning, an RBI single by Joel Stevens, a two-run single by Jon Sotto and a passed ball during the second inning fueled CMR’s offense early.

Christian Lewis piled up two RBIs on two hits for CMR with a single in the first inning and a homer in the fifth.

Noah Koehmstedt brought the heat against Scripps Ranch American during his outing. Koehmstedt held SRA hitless over two innings He allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Lewis recorded the win for CMR, allowing two runs over two-plus innings. Lewis struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.
