Four Poway schools holding student registration events
By Emily Sorensen
Though most of Poway’s schools held their registration between May and July, four schools will be conducting registration for the upcoming 2012-13 school year this month.
Tierra Bonita Elementary School, Meadowbrook and Twin Peaks middle schools and Poway High School will all be having registration days during August before the school year begins on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
Tierra Bonita, Twin Peaks and New Directions all require parents to fill out the continuing education registration forms, available online at www.powayusd.com/registration. Meadowbrook Middle School and Poway High School do not require these forms to register.
Tierra Bonita Elementary School is holding its registration 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room. Both continuing and new students must register during August to be able to attend Tierra Bonita Elementary this school year. Grades four and five (and siblings) can register anytime between 8 to 11 a.m., and they will also pick up their iPads in the library during this time. Kindergarten through third-graders can register anytime between 1 – 4 p.m.
Meadowbrook Middle School is holding a three-day registration. Registration packets for already enrolled students grades sixth through eighth will be available for pickup in the school parking lot Friday, Aug. 10. Times are 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Seventh-grade students must have previously provided proof of the Tdap booster vaccination to Meadowbrook’s health technician in order to pick up their packets. If you cannot pick up your student’s registration packet on Aug. 10, packets will be available during registration hours or after Thursday, Aug. 16 during office hours.
Registration is being held Tuesday, Aug. 14, Wednesday, Aug. 15 and Thursday, Aug. 16. Time slots are based on grade and last name. You may come on or after your scheduled time up until noon, Aug. 16. Sixth-grade students need to bring their vaccination cards to their appointed registration time. Registration times are G – L, 8 to 9 a.m.; M – R, 9 to 10 a.m.; S – Z, 10 to 11 a.m.; and A – F, 11 a.m. to noon.
Eighth-graders will register on Aug. 14, seventh-graders on Aug. 15, and sixth-graders on Aug. 16, with sixth-grade orientation being held Friday, Aug. 17. For more information, visit www.powayusd.com/pusdmbms and click on “Registration Information.”
Twin Peaks Middle School is also holding a three-day registration, 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 14 for sixth grade, Wednesday, Aug. 15 for seventh grade and Thursday, Aug. 16 for eighth grade in the Multi-Purpose Room. Times are based on last name: A – F, 8 to 9 a.m.; G – L, 9 to 10 a.m.; M – Q, 10 to 11 a.m.; and R – Z, 11 a.m. to noon.
You will be required to bring the following to Twin Peaks’ registration: PUSD student information form, which will be provided at registration, PUSD signature verification, student health information (seventh grade only), PTSA forms, foundation information and fundraising. Information and downloads for these forms can be found at www.powayusd.com/PUSDTPMS/generalInfo/tpmsRegistration.shtml.
Poway High School has eliminated the packet pickup this year by putting all registration forms online. These need to be filled out and brought to your registration time. Registration is being held in K1 and Titan Center. Juniors will register 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, sophomores 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, and freshmen 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. Seniors can register between 1 to 5 p.m. any of those three days. Make-up registration is 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 16.
