The race, set for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 in the Webb Park lake, will have up to 500 rubber ducks “racing” toward the finish line. The winning duck’s owner will win $500.

Bob Wells, a party committee member, said proceeds from the race will help offset the community party’s cost. The event marking the 50th anniversary of Rancho Bernardo’s formation will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 22 at Webb Park.

Ducks are being sold for $5. Of the 500 ducks available, a couple hundred have already been sold at community events. To purchase, send a check written to “RBBA” along with the entrant’s name and phone number to P.O. Box 27951, San Diego, CA 92198. The winner need not attend the race.

Ducks can also be purchased via credit card by calling Wells at 858-229-9053.

He said if all are not sold prior to Sept. 22, they will be sold at the party on a first-come basis until the race.
