Savour RB food fair is Tuesday

Around 500 locals are anticipated to attend the fifth annual Savour RB, organizers said.
The 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 food fair will showcase appetizer-sized entrees, desserts and other tasty choices prepared by 18 local restaurants and businesses. All are welcome to attend.
Tickets are $20, with Rancho Bernardo Business Association members admitted for free. All food and first beverage is included. To reserve a ticket, contact April Mitchell at 858-451-3406 or april@rbbusinessassociation.com.
Due to its overwhelming popularity, Savour RB is being held at a new venue — Bernardo Heights Country Club, 16066 Bernardo Heights Parkway in Rancho Bernardo.
“We ran out of space,” said Larry McIntyre, Rancho Bernardo Business Association president. “(This venue) is much bigger.”
He said all the indoor rooms of the country club will be used in addition to its patio, so there will be plenty of space for attendees to access each restaurant’s table, eat and mingle.
McIntyre said RBBA, which organizes the event, is “very grateful” to Courtyard by Marriott for hosting Savour RB during its first four years, but with last year’s crowd of around 500 filling its indoor and outdoor areas to capacity, the group knew Savour RB would have to be relocated so all who wanted to enjoy it could attend.
The food fair grew much quicker in popularity in its short history than anticipated. The first drew around 250 attendees, McIntyre said.
Around 6:30 p.m. either Terry Klinker, owner of SportClips in Rancho Bernardo and 4S Ranch, or Scott Lawn, owner of Greenway Lawn Aeration, will be named the new Rancho Bernardo honorary mayor. The three grand-prize winners among their ticket purchasers will also be determined.
As for the restaurants and businesses participating in Savour RB, as of press time they were Barons Marketplace, The Barrel Room, Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors, Bernardo Heights Country Club, Bernard’O Restaurant, Bernardo Winery, Bite of Boston, Borrelli’s of RB, Cafe Merlot, Carvers Steaks & Chops, Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, Courtyard by Marriott, Hooters, Jersey Mike’s, Rancho Bernardo Inn, Saigon Bistro & Grill, Stone Brewery and Urge American Gastropub.
