Prep Girls Volleyball: Poway High knocks off Cathedral Catholic to claim Fall Classic title
The Poway High girls volleyball team captured the Fall Classic Gold Division title for the first time in four years Saturday night at Epic Volleyball Center, knocking off the defending CIF Division III state champions to do it.
The Titans opened Saturday with a straight-set loss to the Dons, but wound up getting another chance at the powerhouse program and made the best of it.
Poway rattled off six straight points in the third and deciding game to take a commanding 12-7 lead. Blair Ehrlich – the tournament MVP – made the final kill to give the Titans (6-1) the title with a 25-19, 18-25, 15-10 victory.
Mckenzie Hall and Kendall Sieber each had six kills in the match. Paige Ehrlich – an All-Tournament team selection – registered five kills.
Poway won a grueling three-set match over Parker (20-25, 25-17, 15-13) just hours earlier to get to the finals. The Titans won all three of their pool play games on Friday.
