Prep Football: Torrey Pines High blanks Del Norte

The Torrey Pines High football team compiled 238 yards rushing and the defense smothered Del Norte in a 35-0 victory Friday night in a nonleague game at Torrey Pines High.

Billy Maggs rushed for two touchdowns and finished with 114 yards on 17 carries, as the Falcons won their second straight game after opening the season with a loss. Meanwhile, the Nighthawks have now dropped two in row and haven’t scored for six straight quarters.

Del Norte trailed just 14-0 at the half, but was never able to get going on offense. Torrey Pines’ Peter Hollen returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and the Falcons added two more score in the fourth.
