Poway’s General Atomics awarded $102.6M contract

POWAY (CNS) – Poway-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems was awarded a $102.6 million contract by the Defense Department Tuesday to provide services in support of the MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft.

The drone is used by the Army for surveillance and communications, and has attack capabilities with four Hellfire missiles.
The aircraft has an endurance of up to 25 hours and can operate as high as 29,000 feet, according to the company.

The Pentagon said the contract is scheduled to be fulfilled by next May 7.
