Powegian to be county chief administrative officer
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The San Diego County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved an employment contract with the county’s incoming chief administrative officer.
Under terms of the deal, which are posted on the county’s website, Helen N. Robbins-Meyer of Poway, now the assistant chief administrative officer, will be paid $259,000 annually when she succeeds current CAO Walt Ekard on Dec. 1.
The contract bumps her salary to $274,000 on Dec. 1, 2013, and $289,000 on Dec. 1, 2014. It was passed without comment by the supervisors.
Robbins-Meyer was appointed as the county’s top staffer in August, shortly after Ekard announced his decision to step down. He has led the county government since 1999.
Robbins-Meyer has worked for the county since 1997.
