“An Evening in Bavaria” Oktoberfest dinner, set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 in the parish hall, will benefit several charitable organizations the Knights of Columbus Council 9710 support, said Grand Knight Terry Tamberg. These have included those supporting seminarians and religious vocations; groups that help children, the disabled and starving around the world; organizations that provide assistance to injured service members and their families; and parish endeavors.
The menu includes imported German beer, bratwursts, sauerkraut, German potato salad, pretzels, apple sauce and strudel with ice cream.
Tickets are $15 per person, available at the event. It will be in the San Rafael Parish Hall, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive, Rancho Bernardo.
Free childcare is available, but parents must RSVP in advance by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the number of children coming and their ages. The children’s menu will feature pizza, fruit, cookies, lemonade and milk. There will be entertainment and movies for children 12 years and younger.
As for the adults’ entertainment, that will include music played by a German band. There will also be opportunity drawings for several prizes. The grand prize is an HP Pavilion dv4t-5100 laptop computer worth $650.
Tamberg said the Oktoberfest dinner is one of the Knights’ larger fundraisers, with 650 to 700 people expected to attend.
