Prep Girls Tennis: Rancho Bernardo High, Poway, Del Norte all advance to second round of section championships
The Poway High, Rancho Bernardo and Del Norte girls tennis teams all pulled out victories Tuesday in their CIF San Diego Section first-round matches.
No. 4 Rancho Bernardo put away No. 13 Mira Mesa 15-3 and No. 7 Poway defeated No. 10 Vista 13-5 in the Division I field. Del Norte downed Santa Fe Christian 12-6 to advance in the Division III field.
The Broncos (12-8) will host No. 5 Scripps Ranch Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. The Titans (11-7) will travel to 23-time defending section champions and second-seeded Torrey Pines (17-1) for a 2:30 p.m. match.
The Nighthawks (7-8) will host No. 5 Mater Dei (12-1) Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. All three local teams can reach the semifinals of their respective divisions with another win.
