The term "stand alone" does not mean that it can physically stand up by itselft. It means that the whole message is contained on one sign. These signs, if put up by themselves, would not stand alone.

Vinyard's signs may abide with the letter of the law, but they certainly do not abide with the intent of the law. And we do not need that type of divisive behavior in city government.

According to the Poway code, they have 10 days to take the signs down. Then the city will take them down and hold them for the people to pick up. I doubt the city would collect much money because campaign contributions are kept in a separate bank account than the individual personal account. After a losing election the candidate will probably clear out whatever money is left. But yeah, after 10 days the city should try to charge for cleaning them up. I'd make an allowance for a random sign or two that got missed. Ever try to keep track of hundreds of signs like that, especially if candidate volunteers put them up?

Should voters elect someone who has shown that he can not work with city staff?

The candidates and their supporters are legally suppose to be responsible for removing the signs following the election. Invariably what happens every election is that they do not pick them all up and city workers remove them at the public's cost. I favor our city employees keeping track of time spent removing these eyesores and then charging the individual candidates for removal of their campaign signs.

Win or lose, please remove all the eyesore signs as soon as the election is over.

What happened to all the "$1billion school bond" signs next to Mangum, Patapow and Vanderveen ? Did the city not like those either, remove them. and interject itself in a school board issue? What was illegal about them? Remember removing anyone's signs is against the law.

I was simply offering two unbiased opinions: (1) This is an interesting legality which the City will have to address and (2) Voters should make informed choices based on the candidates' qualifications and what they can offer the residents of Poway rather than how many signs (large and/or small) are littering our landscape. Or am I in the wrong place for a civil forum?
