DUI suspected in Poway Route 67 crash
POWAY (CNS) – A 36-year-old woman was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of having been drunk when she crashed into a vehicle carrying a woman and her two young sons on state Route 67 in Poway, authorities said.
The woman – the only one injured in the accident – was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6 southbound on the highway when she struck a guard rail a half-mile north of Mina de Oro just before 3:30 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. David Cheever.
The Pontiac then swerved into northbound lanes and into a 2007 Kia Sedona with a woman and her sons inside, Cheever said in a statement. The Pontiac rolled over and landed on its roof on the shoulder of the roadway, injuring the driver, who was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, he said.
The three people in the Kia were not injured, he said.
