Mt. Carmel High stages ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

The classic musical “Fiddler on the Roof” opens tonight (Thursday) at Mt. Carmel High School’s Theatre at the Mount and runs through Saturday, April 27.

Alika Hubbert, left, performs as Tevye while Sydney Joynet is Golde in the Mt. Carmel production.

Performances are 7 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with a 1 p.m. matinee on the two Saturdays.

Set in a small Jewish village in Russia in 1905, the story revolves around Tevye, played by Alika Hebbert, a poor milkman with five daughters who put his traditions to a test.

Music will be performed by Mt. Carmel’s Grammy Award-winning orchestra. The production is directed by Diane Jones.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students and active military. Special ticket prices for Scout troops. Tickets can be purchased online at, or at or at the door. The school is located at 9550 Carmel Mountain Road in Rancho Penasquitos.

I am a Jewish immigrant from Russia whose grandparents were born there at the time revealed in the play. I just wanted to say, it was quite a piece of art put together by the school theater. I and my wife were moved.
