Carmel Mountain Ranch Borders bookstore added to closure list

The Borders bookstore in Carmel Mountain Ranch has been added to the list of more than 200 store closings stemming from the company’s bankruptcy filing.

The Borders at The Courtyard-Carmel Mountain will close by the end of May, the company announced.

RB fitness center hits milestone

Personally Fit, a full-service fitness facility in Rancho Bernardo, recently surpassed the milestone of servicing over 100,000 clients.

Personally Fit originally opened in 1990 as a fitness facility and added physical therapy services in 2001. The owners, Jim and Doris Flood and Brian and Cathie Gillespie, are Rancho Bernardo/Poway residents.

Poway-developed MDsuite certified

Poway-based Data Strategies’ MDsuite has received the federal government’s stamp of approval by earning the “Complete EHR Ambulatory Certification.” The designation officially deems the Electronic Health Record (EHR) software capable of enabling providers to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Former RB bank building purchased

The former San Diego National Bank building in Rancho Bernardo has been purchased by Boardwalk Development, Inc. in partnership with James Nierman.

The 14,000 square foot, two-story, building at 16789 Bernardo Center Drive is a former Home Federal Savings branch featuring a brick facade, wood shutters and a balcony. San Diego National Bank purchased the building September 1999 for $2,400,000.
