Vicki Lawrence (and Mama) to perform in Poway

The Poway Symphony Orchestra is presenting the works of all-American composers, featuring both well-known and obscure names, at their next concert, being held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at Rancho Bernardo High School, 13010 Paseo Lucido.

San Diego REPertory Theatre’s “A Hammer, A Bell and A Song to Sing” is an enjoyable way to learn how music has shaped history, particularly when attempting to overcome adversity.

The Youth Philharmonic Orchestra will open its season with a concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church, 17010 Pomerado Road.

Folk-music duo Coco and Lafe will be bringing their original folk-blues, singer-songwriter music to Poway 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 in Templar’s Hall.

The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra brings their legendary sound to the Del Norte High School Performing Arts Center for two performances Sunday, Nov. 4. A matinee performance at 2 p.m. will be followed by an evening performance at 6 p.m. The concert is a fundraiser for the Del Norte High School music program.

A little taste of Cape Breton will come to Poway this Saturday. Natalie MacMaster, fiddle virtuoso, will be performing a concert 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, as part of the POW! Foundation’s fall performance series.

Blues musician and one-man band Nathan James will be bringing his unique style of blues to Poway in a concert set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Poway Library.

There will be a local voice among those singing and performing in the free United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants concert, being held 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, 15498 Espola Road.

The Friends of the Rancho Bernardo Library are expanding their musical repertoire with a new jazz concert series, which begins Wednesday, Oct. 10 with jazz flutist Holly Hofmann and pianist Mike Wofford.
