Anna Lou Ottilie

Dr. Donald J. Ottilie

An elderly husband and wife from Poway, married for 30 years, died within the space of 16 days.

Dr. Donald J. Ottilie, 87, died from complications from and respiratory illness on Oct. 20, 2006. His wife, Anna Lou MacKey Ottilie, 86, had died on Oct. 4, 2006 following a stroke.

The couple have lived in Poway for the past 27 years.

Dr. Ottilie was born in Manchester, Iowa while his wife was born in Villisca, Iowa. Both earned bachelors degrees from the University of Iowa and Dr. Ottilie received his medical degree from there as well.

Dr. Ottilie served in the US Army and was a former officer and director of the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. He retired from medicine in 1995. He was Mason.

They are survived by Dr. Ottilie’s children, Bob Ottilie of San Diego and Beth Wallace of El Dorado Hills, and by his brother, Bob Ottilie of Marshalltown, Iowa. Dr. Ottilie also had five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

No services are planned.

Robert K. McMinn

Services were to be held today, Nov. 2, for Roger Keith McMinn, 63, of Poway. He died on Oct. 27, 2006.

Born in San Diego, Mr. McMinn had lived in Poway for the past eight years. He sold business equipment, was a football official and a member of Executive Associates of San Diego County.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan McMinn, a daughter, Jennifer Roberts of Escondido and one grandchild.

Services were planned for 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at Bethel Baptist Church of Escondido.

Poway Bernardo Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Leonard Bridgwater

Leonard T. Bridgwater died Oct. 16, 2006 at the age of 70. Mr. Bridgwater, born in Burnt Oak, England, was a Poway resident for 30 years.

Bridgwater made his living as a tool and die maker and also served for the British Army. He came to the United States in 1967 and lived in Bristol, Conn., before moving to Southern California three years later.

He is survived by Yvonne A. Bridgwater, his wife of 46 years, and brothers John Bridgwater of Aukland, New Zealand, Bill Bridgwater of Hertford, England, and George Bridgwater of Potters Bar, England.

Services will be held in Hendon, England, in December.

Alba C. Campbell

Longtime Poway resident Alba Carmen Campbell died Oct. 22, 2006 at the age of 56. She was born in Mexico and lived in Poway for 41 years.

Mrs. Campbell was a medical assistant.

Survivors include her daughters, Andrea Burton and Hannah; her brother, Ricardo Adame; her sister, Sagario Esparza; and one grandchild.

Services were held Oct. 28 at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary.

Evangelina Jimenez

Evangelina Jimenez of Poway died Oct. 26, 2006 at the age of 85. A native of Mexico, Mrs. Jimenez was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Toni Pfeifer of La Jolla and Carmen Sadler of Poway; her brothers, Fernando Arreola of El Cajon and Manuel Arreola of Washington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jose F. Jimenez.

Services were held Oct. 29 at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary.

Dorothy L. Vizard

Longtime Rancho Bernardo resident Dorothy Lucille Vizard died Oct. 19, 2006 at the age of 83. She was born in Oconee, Ill., and lived in Rancho Bernardo for 34 years.

A homemaker, Mrs. Vizard loved to cook and entertain. She also enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses.

Survivors include her son, Michael W. Vizard of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held Oct. 25 followed by burial at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.
