Lottie J. Hamilton

Lottie Juanita Hamilton of Poway died Jan. 24, 2007 at the age of 86.

Born in Conneaut, Ohio, Mrs. Hamilton lived in Mentor, Ohio, for 36 years before moving to Poway 10 months ago. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sons, Geoffrey Loeffler of Poway and Gregory Loeffler of Ohio; her daughter, Donyell Klein of New York, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Carl E. Loeffler.

Services and burial will be in Mentor, Ohio.

Poway-Bernardo Mortuary handled the arrangements.

John B. Lischke

John B. Lischke, a veteran of World War II, died Jan. 29, 2007 at the age of 89. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and lived in Rancho Bernardo for 29 years. He previously lived in Indiana for 36 years.

Mr. Lischke graduated from the Butler University College of Pharmacy in Indianapolis, Ind., in 1939. During his 50 years a pharmacist, he worked at the VA Hospital and the Balboa Navy Hospital.

Mr. Lischke was retired from the Army.

He was a member of the Rancho Bernardo Lions Club and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruth Ellen; his son, Jon Lischke, M.D. of La Jolla; his daughter, Joan Boak of Wheaton, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Private burial is at Fort Rosecrans.

The family suggests donations in memory of: John B. Lischke, Class of 1939, Dean’s Fund, Butler University, College of Pharmacy, 4600 Sunset Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46208.

Jessie W. Patrick

Jessie Wray Patrick of Rancho Penasquitos died Jan. 27, 2007 at the age of 87. She was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, and lived in Rancho Penasquitos for two years.

A founder of Special Olympics in Connecticut, Mrs. Patrick worked in elementary special education for 26 years, also in Connecticut.

Survivors include her daughters, Lynda Vargas of San Diego and Lori Koleszar of Redding, Conn.; her sons, Dick Patrick of Oakton, Va., and Paul Patrick of Leonardo, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Murray Patrick, in 1998.

Memorial services are planned for a later date in Old Greenwich, Conn.

The family suggests donations to Special Olympics, 1400 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista, CA 92084.

Doreen M. Purvis

Doreen May Purvis of Rancho Bernardo died Jan. 28, 2007 at the age of 92. She was born in Marlboro, England, and lived in Rancho Bernardo for 12 years. She previously lived in Newport Beach, Calif., for 10 years.

Mrs. Purvis worked in retail sales.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Allan; and her daughter, Pamela Purvis of Rancho Bernardo.

Viewing is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary and burial is at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.

Gwendolyn F. Wickham

Gwendolyn Faye Wickham of Poway died Jan. 20, 2007 at the age of 82. She was born in Nebraska and lived in Poway for 30 years.

A homemaker, Mrs. Wickham was also an avid golfer and was a member of the StoneRidge Country Club.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, William; her son, James B. Wickham of Sedona, Ariz.; her daughter, Lorene Walsh of Poway; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.
