‘Kevin’ Mead

Services will be held tomorrow (Friday) for Grant “Kevin” Mead, who died Sept. 26, 2007 at the age of 52. Born in St. Charles, Mo., he lived in Poway for 22 years.

Mr. Mead was the chief information officer for The Super Glue Company and had a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico.

A great supporter of high school sports and youth activities, Mr. Mead’s former activities included cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 686, president of the Poway High School Football Booster Club and member of the Poway Wrestling Foundation. He was also a 49ers, Chargers and Padres fan.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Cathryn; his sons, Brandon Mead of Poway, Ryan Mead of Poway, Loni Venn of Raleigh, N.C., and Spencer Mead of Poway; his parents, Grant and Mary Mead of Rio Vista, Calif.; his sisters, Sara Sazegari of Mountain View, Calif., Sandra Leon of Los Altos, Calif.; and his brother, Jim Mead of Kennisau, Ga.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at The Church at Rancho Bernardo, officiated by Senior Pastor Harry Kuehl. Burial is at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.

The family suggest donations to the UCSD John Moores Cancer Center.

Robert G. Trusty

Longtime Poway resident Robert G. Trusty died Sept. 26, 2007 at the age of 64. He was born in Somerset, Ky., and lived in Poway for 34 years.

Mr. Trusty, a retired Navy aviation mechanic, served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his daughter, Laurrie Stacconi of San Diego; his son, Scott Trusty of Spokane, Wash.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Trusty, who died in November 1999.

No services are planned. Burial is at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.

Mary J. Wilzbach

A celebration of life will be held Saturday for Mary Jane Wilzbach, 57, who died Aug. 26, 2007 of cancer. She was born in Hillsboro, Ohio, and lived in Poway for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Wilzbach was a member of the RB Chorale for more than 10 years.

Survivors include her son, David Gray Wilzbach; and her daughter, Shannon Beth Woodard.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Community Reform Church, 777 W. Felicita in Escondido, officiated by Pastor John Bales.

William H. Sears Jr.

Services were held Wednesday for William Hale Sears Jr., 60, a longtime Rancho Penasquitos resident who died Sept. 23, 2007 of a heart attack. Born in Clendenin, W.V., he lived in Rancho Penasquitos for 28 years.

Mr. Sears was a retired building inspector for the city of San Diego. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He loved his family, camping and motorcycle riding.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Marie; his daughters, Amanda Sears of San Diego and Caroline Bridges of Winchester, Calif.; his sister, Mary Jane Penn of West Virginia; his brothers, Michael Sears of Arkansas and Jeffery Sears of West Virginia; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 3 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
