Rancho Bernardo Kiwanians will once again be outside local grocery stores this weekend selling tickets to their 44th annual pancake breakfast.

The tickets will be sold from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in front of Albertsons and Vons in Rancho Bernardo. They will also be available for purchase at the breakfast. Tickets are $6, with children 4 to 8 years admitted for $3 and those under 4 years free.

The pancake breakfast will be 7-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at Rancho Bernardo High School, 13010 Paseo Lucido. The goal is to raise money for the Kiwanians’ various causes and projects.

These endeavors include many focused on children, such as Rady Children’s Hospital, scholarships for local high school seniors, sponsorship of Key Clubs at Rancho Bernardo and Del Norte high schools and Maranatha Christian School, the Boys & Girls Club in 4S Ranch, Boy Scout Troop 681, RB High Robotics Club and YMCA. Overseas youth endeavors include a high school project in the Philippines and Coffee for Kids project benefiting those in Honduras.

Senior-focused sponsorships include Seniors Helping Our Kids (SHOK), Rancho Bernardo Senior Services, the Continuing Education Center, Rides & Smiles and the Rancho Bernardo Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol.

Kiwanis’ philanthropic endeavors helping those of all ages include the Ronald McDonald House, Heart to Heart Ministries’ Romanian orphanage, Paws’itive Teams service dogs, Wounded Marines and Amigos de los Californios.

According to the Kiwanians, the local club donates more than $25,000 annually to local, national and international groups.

The club meets at 7 a.m. each Wednesday at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. For details, go to www.RanchoBernardoKiwanis.org or call 858-451-1529.
