Poway resident Kelly Burt is the new president of the San Diego-Imperial Council of Boy Scouts of America.

Burt, president of TRES-DAC Development, was selected for the two-year term at the council’s annual meeting Feb. 11.

As the council’s top volunteer, Burt will direct the executive board, which guides the youth-service organization. One of his top priorities will be to lead the organization forward in its second century. This will include the further development of the leadership team as well as the securing of a new resource center for training, retail and office facilities.

“Scouting left a mark on me as a young man, which has helped to shape the way that I lead my life, both personal and professional,” Burt said. “As a Scoutmaster, I have watched its transformational power. There’s really nothing else like it. After over 100 years of growing boys into men, we are still on the leading edge of preparing young people for life.”

Burt was recognized in 2009 by the council as the “Champion of Scouting.”

Burt has served on the boards of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the San Diego County Fair, the Scripps Green Advisory Board and Rancho Bernardo Community Bank.
