Prep Boys Soccer: Del Norte High opens season with shutout win over La Jolla

The Del Norte High boys soccer team won two games all last season. One game in this year and the Nighthawks are already half way to matching that total.

Seniors Dexter Offer and Trevor Renken each scored a goal and goalkeeper Alex Groesbeck had six saves, as Del Norte blanked host La Jolla 2-0 Tuesday in the season opener.

The Nighthawks struck for a goal in each half and posted their first shutout since Dec. 2, 2011 against El Camino. It was the third shutout for Del Norte since the program opened varsity play three years ago.

The Nighthawks will try to match last year’s win total on Friday, when they host West Hills at 6:30 p.m.
