Man dies after being hit crossing Penasquitos road

A pedestrian died of his injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Rancho Penasquitos.

According to San Diego police, the 70-year-old man was jaywalking after dark Wednesday in the 4600 block of Carmel Mountain Road when he was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound. He was transported to the trauma unit of a local hospital where he died. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family. There were no other injuries.

Traffic Division is investigating.
