Prep Boys Lacrosse: Poway High edges Westview, moves into first-place tie

Share

Ryan Sharpe scored three times and the Poway High boys lacrosse team moved into a first-place tie in the Palomar League after edging previously unbeaten Westview 6-5 Friday night at Westview High School.

The Wolverines (13-3, 3-1 Palomar League) entered the match looking to tighten their grip on first place, but the Titans (10-5, 3-1) had other ideas. Poway avenged its only loss in league play thus far by taking down Westview, which had won five in a row.

The Wolverines entered the match ranked No. 4 in the CIF San Diego Section, while the Titans entered at No. 5. Torrey Pines continues to be the top-ranked team in the county, followed by Cathedral Catholic and La Costa Canyon.

Poway will have a chance to see just how it stacks up against the Mavericks on Friday night in the second to last regular game of the season. Both teams will be in the Open Division section playoffs.
