Born and raised in San Diego, Dawn Colonna of Prudential California Realty in Rancho Bernardo has seen the Poway and Rancho Bernardo area grow and change over the 31 years she has lived in Poway.

“My familiarity with the character of the neighborhoods allows me to help clients find homes that meet their lifestyles,” Colonna said. “My job as a Realtor affords me the privilege to see some beautiful homes, different architectures, interior designs, different neighborhoods and price ranges for homes and condos.”

Using all that she has learned helps her help her clients visualize the potential of a home.

“One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is helping a family find the right house with practically everything they are looking for and negotiate the best price for the home,” she said

Colonna describes herself as a very much a people person, and as a Realtor she enjoys meeting many people from different backgrounds and cultures and finding out what is important to them.

“I have made great many friends and have enjoyed working with every one of my clients,” she said.

Before becoming a Realtor, Colonna spent over 15 years as a business retail manager. She has been with Prudential California Realty for the past 12 years, specializing in working with buyers and sellers, and has won numerous awards since that time, including The President’s Circle, The Honor Society and The Leading Edge.

“Our office is well established and has been serving the Rancho Bernardo, Poway and surrounding areas for many years,” Colonna said. “One of the reasons I like Prudential is because I feel that they have one of the best marketing plans to help my clients sell their homes.”

One question Colonna gets asked a lot is: Should I wait to sell or buy? It is a great time to sell or buy, she says.

“For sellers, it is now an opportune time to put your home on the market,” Colonna said. “Inventory levels are extremely low in most price ranges which is causing demand and prices to rise. Set your prices realistically. The price will determine if your home languishes on the market or sells quickly and for the most money.”

Buyers are realizing now is the time to buy, according to Colonna.

“Interest rates are still at historic lows and prices have started to rise since there is a lot more competition for a home,” she said. “Find your dream home and act quickly. It will be gone if you wait too long to think about it. Owning a home has proven to be a solid financial decision and most people aspire to home ownership as a long term goal.”
