The Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame is seeking nominations of locals who have provided several years of volunteer leadership in the community.

The deadline to submit a nomination for the 2012 induction class is Feb. 28. The nomination form can be obtained at

or by contacting Robin Kaufman at 858-487-6227 or Rbns1nest@aol.com.

Since it was formed in 1974, the organization has honored 101 individuals with membership for their volunteer work that improved Rancho Bernardo’s development and enhanced its residents’ quality of life.

In recent years, between one and three new members have been inducted annually. In two years — 1988 and 1991 — there were no inductees and in 2010 the group decided to have an honorary inductee since it would be the 100th member. Members chose Rancho Bernardo founder Harry Summers.

To be considered, nominees must be living and have given six or more years of outstanding volunteer service to the Rancho Bernardo community. This must include at least three years in a leadership role, which resulted in “significant contributions to Rancho Bernardo,” according to the nomination form. Leadership role is defined as president or chairperson of an organization, committee or project.

Nominations cannot include any service or leadership that was religious or political in nature, or for which payment was received.

Eligible organizations include “those designed to serve others in RB, enhance the quality of life in RB, improve health or education in RB, or foster the civic or cultural life of RB,” per the nomination criteria.

The 2012 inductees will be announced in April.
