Barons Market expands with new salad bar

Barons Market, at 11828 Rancho Bernardo Road, is working hard to become a one-stop shopping experience for its customers, and thanks to its new salad bar, the market is one step closer.

The salad bar, which opened at the Rancho Bernardo location in mid-May, has been a big success for the business. “[The salad bar] was something we tried out at our Wildomar store first, to ensure it would be successful,” said marketing manager Rachel Shemirani. “It went so well, we’re putting it in all our stores.”

The salad bar, which is $5.99 a pound, offers a wide variety of greens and toppings for you to mix and match to your liking. “We offer more gourmet ingredients,” said Shemirani. These include sweet petite peppers, which Shemirani described as “sweet and spicy,” and said some people come in and buy these on their own, as well as Gorgonzola cheese, dried salami, bacon and both organic spring mix greens and kale. “Some of our customers come in and buy our salad bar ingredients to use as pizza toppings,” said Shemirani.

“It’s been a huge success,” said Shemirani of the salad bar. “It really caters to local businesses and the lunch crowd, but also people on their way home, looking to pick something up for dinner.” Shemirani said Barons Market has received great feedback on the toppings they offer at the salad bar.

Barons Market is always expanding their gluten-free section, said Shemirani, as well as their summer fruit offerings, which are often locally grown.

Another great new product Barons Market is offering is Roland’s Cookie Butter, for $3.99 a jar. Used like peanut butter or Nutella, Shemirani described it as like a cinnamon cookie. “It is out of this world addicting and delicious,” said Shemirani. “It’s kind of a new product in stores this season.”
