Monte Lawson’s direct, hands-on approach has earned him the appreciation of clients and the respect of co-workers, as well as numerous industry awards in his 30-year career. But to Lawson, it’s all part of doing a job he enjoys.

“My primary goal with all my clients is to make their real estate transaction the most pleasant of any they have had,” Lawson said.

Some of his past awards include reaching the top 1 percent in sales, nationwide and receiving the San Diego Magazine’s Five Star “Best in Customer Satisfaction” award for the third time. At present, he is a top producer in a Diego.

“It gives me so much satisfaction helping buyers and sellers make their dreams of owning a home become a reality,” he said. Lawson says he firmly believes that because his company, RE/MAX Associates in Rancho Bernardo, shares the same belief, it has become a leader in San Diego’s real estate market.

Because the real estate industry is becoming more sophisticated and challenging every day, you need a professional that understands the industry and is positioned to stay ahead of the game, Lawson said. His advice to sellers is to choose a Realtor with experience and a good reputation. “I constantly research the market and property values so your home is priced effectively from day one,” Lawson said.

To the buyer he says, “Work with a Realtor who will listen to your needs and wants, and is willing to go preview homes in order to eliminate those that do not fit your requirements.” In addition, Lawson recommends getting pre-approved with a lender prior to your search.

“Communication is a vital part of any relationship,” Lawson said. “I am in constant touch with my clients and give them a weekly status report regarding their real estate transaction.”

One of the fun events of the year Lawson offers his clients is his “Client Appreciation Day.”

“I take approximately 200 of my clients to a San Diego Padres game,” he said. “We meet at the ballpark, take photos and pass out Cracker Jacks. (The kids love it!)”

Lawson moved to San Diego in 1973. He and his wife, Anita, live in Poway. They attend Maranatha Chapel in Rancho Bernardo, and host a monthly group called “HopeKeepers.” It is a Bible study and fellowship for people with chronic illness and pain who need support.

Whatever his clients’ goals are, Lawson says, “It is my job to know the housing market and my privilege to put that knowledge to work for you or someone you know.
