Poway High’s Frances Cornwall earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Palomar League girls tennis individual championships.

Cornwall, a freshman, will have a bye in the opening round. She is on the same side of the bracket as teammate Savanah Goode, who was tabbed the No. 6 seed.

Torrey Pines’ Kelsey Chen is the top seed followed by Westview’s Maryann Zhao. Cornwall and Goode are the lone two locals seeded in the top eight of the league individual championships, which will begin Monday at Poway High.

Rancho Bernardo High sophomore Carissa Bernhardt, who captured the San Diego Section doubles championship last season with Wakana Tanaka, will team up with Ashley Chao this year for another run. The duo is the No. 1 seed in the Palomar League.
