A mostly nude 35-year-old Ramona woman was arrested in Poway late Monday afternoon, following a high-speed chase that resulted in the woman crashing her car into a ravine.

chp_shieldEdith Cordoba-Chavolla, driving a blue Ford Expedition, reportedly drove through a stop sign in front of a California Highway Patrol vehicle while entering westbound state Highway 78 at Magnolia Ave. at 4:52 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23. When the CHP activated their vehicle’s lights, Cordoba-Chavolla took off, with the CHP vehicle in pursuit down Highway 67, before the vehicle turned onto Poway Road.

According to Kevin Pearlstein, the public information officer for the El Cajon office of the CHP, Cordoba-Chavolla’s vehicle reached speeds of 95 mph. Cordoba-Chavolla then turned into Peppertree Farms, on Lucidi Farms Way, crashed through the gate and down a ravine, before exiting the vehicle and hiding in the brush, where CHP officers found her. Cordoba-Chavolla was wearing only underwear when she was discovered.

The woman was arrested for driving under the influence, felony evading, and driving without a driver’s license, according to Pearlstein. Pearlstein confirmed that drugs and alcohol were involved in the incident, citing prescription medication found in Cordoba-Chavolla’s vehicle and alcohol being discovered on her breath at the scene.

After being treated at Pomerado Hospital for minor injuries, Cordoba-Chavolla was booked into Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility in Santee.
