Share

Meeting Tuesday night, the City Council took the following actions:

• Approved a minor conditional use permit allowing the Poway Hyundai/Mitsubishi dealership to use vacant land behind the Poway Road business to store vehicles. Following meetings with neighbors the dealer agreed to reduce the number of lights from 10 to eight and the height of each light from 18 to 12 feet.

• Approved a minor development review application allowing the construction of a 5,000-square-foot home with a 936-square-foot garage and a 1,000-square-foot guest house on 15.89 acres north of the 13100 block of Coyotero Drive.

• Agreed to have the city manager proceed with the formation of ad-hoc committee for the Poway Road Corridor Study, expected to take about 18 months to complete. The committee will be comprised of between nine and 12 members and include one or more residents and representatives of the business and development community.

• Heard a report on the closing out of the 2013-14 fiscal year. The city ended up with a general fund surplus of $2.7 million and about $2.9 million in one-time revenues associated with the dissolution of the redevelopment agency. The council decided to put the money into reserves for now.

• Elected Dave Grosch to a second consecutive term as deputy mayor.

• Approved Mayor Steve Vaus’s list of committee appointments for the coming year. As mayor, Vaus will take over as the city’s representative to the San Diego Association of Governments.
