Prep Softball: Titans reach semifinals of Michelle Carew Classic

The Poway High softball team has won three straight in the prestigious Michelle Carew Classic and is into Saturday’s semifinals.

Kourtney Shaw delivered a one-hit shutout and Catherine Seitz drove in three runs, as the Titans run-ruled Valencia 8-0 in five innings in a quarterfinal game Friday afternoon.

Poway will face host school Canyon High in the semifinals Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the finals at 7:30 and the loser will play in the third-place game at 5:30. The best Poway has done in the past was a seventh-place finish in 2010. Poway is guaranteed a fourth-place finish this year.

Seitz was 3-for-3 with a double and the three RBIs on Friday. Morgan Lutticken chipped in with a 2-for-3 effort. She also scored two runs.
