Poway launches July 4th fireworks funding drive

The City of Poway is looking for local businesses to purchase sponsorships in support of the annual Fourth of July fireworks program at Poway High School.

Sponsorship packages costing between $250 and $2,500 are being offered, according to Mayor Steve Vaus.

This year the 20-minute fireworks show will cost $15,000, according to Mark Olson, the recreation supervisor who oversees the evening. While the show starts at 9 p.m., gates to the stadium open earlier in the evening so those attending can enjoy music by a DJ, concessions supervised by the Poway High School Band Boosters and fun things for children to do.

Last year over 4,000 people were inside the stadium with many more enjoying the fireworks from just outside the stadium and from their homes, Olson said.

Sponsorship packages include the $2,500 “Shooting Star” package, the $1,000 “Bombs Bursting in Air” package and “Dynamite Donations” of between $250 and $500. The top two levels include extras such as free admissions and recognition on the city’s website and in social media.

For more information, contact Olson at 858-668-4682 or by email at molson@poway.org.
