Prep Softball: Nighthawks get first ‘Black Mountain Battle’ win

The Del Norte High softball team crept closer to Westview each season in the annual Battle Mountain Battle game. This year the Nighthawks finally got over the hump.

The Wolverines put a six spot on the scoreboard in the top of fourth, but the Nighthawks rallied for six of their own en route to a 7-6 victory Saturday night in the fourth annual Black Mountain Battle at 4S Ranch Sports Park.

Westview (9-7) still leads the overall series 3-1, but Del Norte (8-8-1) has to be happy about getting its first win in the series and its third straight victory in a row. The Nighthawks have scored a combined 29 runs in their last three games.
