For the first time in school history, the Rancho Bernardo High boys golf team swept Torrey Pines in Palomar League play.

The Broncos followed up their win over the Falcons last week with a 366-368 victory on Monday at Admiral Baker Golf Course. The win puts Rancho Bernardo in prime position to win its first league championship since 2010.

Taisei Negishi, who led all scorers with a 2-under 70 in the first meeting, had another solid round. This time the junior and his teammate Steve Sugimoto both shot an even-par 72 to lead the way.

Zihao Jin was just behind with a 73. He made the shot of the day on 18 with a chip-in eagle. Derek Chi (74) and Jonathan Mulvany (75) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos, who finished in second place in their first trip to the state tournament last season.
