Get out your daubers and your lucky charms because it’s bingo night at PowPAC, Poway’s Community Theatre.

“Bingo! The Winning Musical,” opens Friday and runs through Sunday, June 7 at the theater, 13250 Poway Road in the Lively Center on the second floor.

Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets are available at www.powpac.org, and are $25 general admission, $22 for students, seniors and active duty military. There is a $1.50 handling charge per ticket purchased online. The price for tickets purchased at the door is slightly higher. Additionally, there is a $2 surcharge for opening night, which includes a post-performance reception with the cast.

This fun, family-friendly musical features singing, dancing and even three real games of bingo for the audience, complete with small prizes to win.

“This show is not too well known, but it’s so much fun,” said Mary L. Smith, one of the show’s directors. The other director, Raylene J. Wall, also stars in the show. Kirk Valles is the musical director.

“Bingo! The Winning Musical” tells the story of best friends and bingo fanatics Vern, Honey and Patsy, who brave a storm to travel to an annual bingo celebration. Honey is reminded of a similar night 15 years ago when Vern and her best friend Bernice had a terrible fight.

Bernice’s daughter Alison comes to the event in disguise, hoping to reunite Vern and Bernice in light of her mother’s failing health.

“There’s lots and lots of fun music in the show,” said Smith. “It’s a feel-good musical. There’s tragedy, but it gets resolved, and everyone gets to live happily ever after.”

Starring in “Bingo! The Winning Musical” are Tony Bejarano as Sam/Frank, Angie Doren as Honey, Kay Marian McNellen as Alison, Gabriela Nelson as Bernice, Holly Peters as Patsy, Lisa Ritz as Minnie and Raylene J. Wall as Vern.

Smith said she came on as co-director to help out Wall, who is playing one of the lead roles. “I haven’t co-directed with Raylene before, but we’ve been friends for 30 years,” said Smith. “She is the perfect Vern (in the show).”

In addition to several songs, there will be dancing, with actress Kay Marian McNellan doing double duty as the show’s choreographer.

Though musicals aren’t PowPAC’s usual genre — the last was “Cowgirls,” in 2012 — Smith said the theater tries to do one every other year and will do two in the upcoming season. “Musicals are very popular with the audience,” she said.

In between the singing and the dancing, there will be bingo, both for the actors and for the audience, who will have the opportunity to play if they wish. “Singing, dancing, bingo, we have it all,” said Smith.
