New Poway outdoor watering rules start Friday

Share

New outdoor watering rules will go into effect in Poway on Friday, May 1.

The watering of lawns and plants will be restricted to two times a week. Homes with even-numbered addresses can water on Wednesday and Saturday while those with odd-numbered addresses can water on Sunday and Thursday.

Apartments, condos and businesses can water on Monday and Friday, according to the new rules.

Watering is limited to 10 minutes per station on each of the two days.

No watering will be allowed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

City employees and members of the Senior Volunteer Patrol will be watching for outdoor watering during daylight hours, according to City Manager Dan Singer.

For first-time offenders, a courtesy notice will be sent the address. A second offense will result in a $100 surcharge being added to the water bill. A third offense will result in a $200 surcharge. Subsequent fines will be $500 each.

The new rules replace the city’s previous policy of three-times-a-week landscape watering.
