Rancho Bernardo’s Pathway of Pride plaques to be unveiled

Share

Eight Pathway of Pride plaques will be unveiled next week to honor living and deceased Rancho Bernardans.

Each plaque represents a donation of at least $1,000 to Rancho Bernardo’s endowment, which helps fund Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation’s annual grants program and other community endeavors on an as-needed basis.

The unveiling ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Webb Park just south of the Courtyard by Marriott, 11611 Bernardo Plaza Court. The pathway has nearly 300 plaques lining the sidewalk that winds through Webb Park. The pathway was established in 1993 as a fundraiser for the community’s endowment and grants program. The endowment that began in 1988 now exceeds $1.4 million.

The 2015 plaque honorees, followed by their donors’ names in parentheses, are Daniel H. and Ruth M. Aasen (Tom and Toma Aasen); Dr. G. Leroy Grant, Jr. (Kiwanis Club of Rancho Bernardo); Debbie Kurth (Rancho Bernardo Business Association); Robert F., Marilyn, Barbara and Teresa Maloney (Maloney family); Thomas A. Richards (Diane Richards); Helen Louise Sock (Joy Vlk-Klein); Andrew J. Truesdell (Truesdell Family) and Timothy and Diane Truesdell (Truesdell family).

City Councilman Mark Kersey will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies. Following the unveiling, attendees are invited to participate in the free reception.

Community members are welcome to attend the free event, but they must RSVP with Andrea Brady at andreab@sdfoundation.org or 619-814-1363, said Pathway of Pride Chairman Dave Brooks.
